Still Birthing: A Mother's Story of Loss, Purpose, and Divine Redemption

Still Birthing: A Mother's Story of Loss, Purpose, and Divine Redemption

There was a time when I questioned who I was as a woman and mother. I had experienced two miscarriages, and with the first, I didn’t just lose a child—I lost myself. I lost the meaning of motherhood. I lost hope. In that moment, I felt like my womb had failed me. My body, my purpose, my future—it all felt empty. The grief was more than emotional; it was spiritual. It cut deep.

In a world that already overlooks the power of a woman’s love and exploits her strength, I felt even more discarded, as if I was no longer valuable. And as I began to age, especially after 50, that feeling of being invisible only intensified. I wondered, “God, what now? Is this the end of my story?”

But it wasn’t.

Like Hannah in the Bible, I came into a covenant with God. In my brokenness, I said, “Lord, if You still want to use my womb, I give it back to You.” It was in that moment of surrender that a new understanding began to bloom. God revealed to me that my womb wasn’t just made for biological children—it was made to birth purpose. I was chosen to carry more than babies—I was called to carry destiny, healing, and legacy into the Earth.

Then came divine alignment.

God orchestrated my steps to the lead gynecologist at the VA hospital, a man who became a pivotal part of my journey. Under his care, I safely delivered both of my daughters. And in a divine twist that I still reflect on with awe, shortly after my second daughter was born, that same doctor retired—not just because of age, but because he had tragically lost his own son. Looking back, I realize that God had held open a sacred window of time, just for me, to bring forth what Heaven had planted inside me.

That’s why I speak today not just from encouragement, but from experience.

To every woman who is grieving a loss…
To the mother who feels estranged from her children…
To the woman who has never given birth but has mothered others in spirit…
To the matriarch who feels like she has aged out of relevance…

You are still birthing.

Your season is not over.
Your womb—natural or spiritual—still has purpose.
You were created to carry more than pain. You are a vessel of wisdom, vision, courage, and truth.
And what you carry is desperately needed in this hour.

If you’ve ever felt like your best years are behind you… if you’ve believed the lie that your value decreased with age… let me remind you:

Your legacy is not in the past. It’s in the now.
God has not forgotten you.

You are not a footnote in history—you are a forerunner of legacy.

And today, I want to tell you what I needed someone to tell me in my darkest hour:

You are not empty. You are expectant.
You are still called. You are still chosen.
You are still birthing.

And the world needs what’s in you.
